A sexier cum rag... Why should a sex towel be unsexy?

Updated: Oct 10, 2021

**WARNING** if you may not have guessed from the title, there are some sexual themes in this post. If this is an uncomfortable topic for you for any reason, no worries. Feel free to check out this resource that may help: https://www.thehopeline.com/topics/sex/ :)

Sex is messy. And usually, the best sex tends to be messier...

All humans cum and create natural bodily fluids one way or another. This is a fact of life.

In Western culture, I've found bodily fluids are rarely addressed seriously. I confirmed this when searching for a solution to my own problem. After sex clean-up. Let me explain...

My partner and I have a very healthy relationship. Currently, she has an IUD, we are sexually exclusive, and STI tested. We are comfortable having unprotected sex. When we're immediately done having sex, we found that we have limited options for dealing with the cum, vaginal lubrication (wetness), lube, saliva, period blood, and/or fecal matter (depending on the time of month and type of sex).

Option 1. Deal with it later...

Especially after rigorous sex or climaxing, it's incredible to hold your partner and bask in the euphoria, enjoying the closeness and intimacy you're sharing... and to just catch your breath. This typically means the sheets/blankets will need a wash or the couch needs a scrub. Sex fluids leak when they're not dealt with!

Option 2. Grab whatever is closest to wipe up

This can be tissues/TP (which sticks to your skin when wet), underwear (not very sexy and probably stuck in your pants) or a towel, which we found is the best option... but we usually don't need to dirty a full-sized towel just from sex once. And a lot of the time we forget to grab a towel before we have sex, so it still requires someone to get up and get it... and at that point, we might as well do option 3...

Option 3. Run to the toilet!

My partner and joke about this one, but it's a bit of a mood killer... If I cum inside of her and we have nothing nearby to clean up, then she will usually try and penguin waddle to the toilet before dripping all over the bed, couch, floor, or clothes that may be on the floor on the way to the washroom.

So after switching between these three unsexy options, we decided that it made sense to have a towel dedicated to our clean-up and actually store it near the bed to grab when we need it. That way, we can do a quick wipe or my partner can just hold it between her legs, so we can enjoy a post-sex snuggle without causing a mess.

But now (goddamit), two new related problems.

#1 the comfiest towels are bath or beach towels which take up a lot of space folded and stored near the bed ( we don't really want to use our kitchen hand towel...)

#2 If we have sex multiple times before weekly laundry day, we need more than 1 towel dedicated to sex

Finally, we realized that for our comfort and the benefit of being able to spend more time together after sex, do laundry less, and save our favourite beach/bath towels for the beach/bath, it was time to buy towels for the sole purpose of sex. Basically, cum rags... but hopefully sexier.

In my head, our ideal cum rags would be...

  • hand towel sized

  • come in a multi-pack

  • soft on skin

  • absorbent

But I didn't think of one extra factor in our sex towel hunt: to not be tacky as hell.

As I mentioned previously, it seems towel suppliers catering to after-sex clean-up think it's a huge joke and the only products I could find were gag gifts...

I don't want to bad mouth these companies - I'll just say, I'm not going to get a towel with any big embroidered logo on it... and definitely not an ANIMATED SPERM STITCHED IN THE TOWEL.

I believe there must be more people (like myself and my gf) who are looking for a serious and viable option for dealing with after-sex clean-up. One that's not gimmicky, but is designed to help make the entire sex experience an intimate and comfortable one... not just until you cum.

So what do you think... Can you make and market the perfect sex towel?
